No one was harmed in the incident. The perpetrator is now in custody.
Last night a young man stormed Dutch national broadcaster NOS with a gun – subsequently found to be fake – and demanded to be put on air.
The channel later uploaded footage of the moment he was arrested by armed police.
He paced around the studio, demanding airtime.
He also handed over a letter to staff at the channel (subsequently published on the NOS website), threatening bomb and cyber attacks.
According to the AP, he claimed to be from a "hackers' collective".
There are media reports that his parents recently died.
According to the BBC, the footage shows him saying: "The things that are going to be said [pause] – those are very large world affairs. We were hired by the security service."
He surrendered immediately when armed police approached him.
The BBC reported that the man, believed to be from Pijnacker, near The Hague, is being held on suspicion of making a threat, weapons possession, and taking a hostage.
